Romania Launches New Online Platform to Improve Access to Clinical Trials
3 December 2025 — Bucharest. Romania has officially launched a national online platform designed to streamline patient access to clinical trials, marking a major step forward in strengthening the country’s clinical research landscape. The initiative is part of a project developed within the Health Innovation Hub and coordinated by the National Agency for Medicines and Medical Devices of Romania, with support from government authorities, the pharmaceutical industry, contract research organisations (CROs), patient associations, and the G6‑UMF university alliance.
During the event, speakers highlighted the platform’s role in improving transparency, simplifying access to information, and fostering stronger collaboration across the medical and research communities. Dr Cristina Florescu Moraid, CEO of the AVANTYO Institute of Clinical Research and representative of the Association of Leading Clinical Research Companies in Romania (ACCSCR), emphasised the importance of providing patients and clinicians with clear, centralised access to clinical trial opportunities. She noted that the platform will help reduce barriers to participation and support Romania’s growing research ecosystem.
Discussions also focused on the platform’s expected impact on patients and healthcare professionals. By consolidating information on ongoing and upcoming clinical trials, the system aims to make it easier for patients to identify relevant studies, for clinicians to guide patients towards suitable research options, and for researchers to engage more effectively with the wider medical community. Stakeholders underscored that improved visibility and accessibility will contribute to a more transparent, efficient, and patient‑centred approach to clinical research.
The launch represents a significant milestone in Romania’s commitment to healthcare innovation. By offering a streamlined, user‑friendly resource for patients, clinicians, and researchers alike, the platform is set to enhance participation in clinical trials and strengthen collaboration across the country’s healthcare and research sectors.
